PRISON MINISTRY EXPANDS
HMP KILMARNOCK
At the end of April we began an 8-week Foundational Truths course in HMP Kilmarnock. This involved Yvonne and two of the team flying up to Glasgow and back in a day most weeks, to deliver the course to two groups of men - one in the morning and one in the afternoon. Over the weeks the Holy Spirit revealed Jesus to the men in a greater measure than many of them had previously known. Consequently some were baptised by immersion, others baptised in the Holy Spirit with the evidence of speaking in tongues!
There were many testimonies at the end of the course but perhaps the greatest compliment came from one of the inmates on the final day, he said: "You know the men didin't like you initially first of all because a woman was doing the teaching and secondly because you're from south of the border, but they soon realised that they were learning more than what's in the Bible you taught them how to learn, this is something many of them have never known before".
HMP THE VERNE
In July a team of nine returned to HMP The Verne for a week-end conference, this time the subject was Spiritual Gifts and Calling. From Friday night to Sunday lunchtime we taught, had group discussion and prayer ministry, helping the guys to identify their spiritual gifts and discovering their calling.
It was a great time and a privilege to witness many men receiving new hope as they came to realise that God wanted to bestow spiritual gifts upon them in order to fulfill their calling and that he can use them now - where they are - not just in the future when they get out of prison. For many, the Holy Spirit envisioned afresh, for others dreams were enlarged.
It's always a great blessing to visit the Verne, the KK team once again felt that they had received far more than they had given. We stand in awe of God because of what He can accomplish through our humble efforts!
